Today was supposed to be Ella's first day of school, but it was canceled today since most of the schools in the district are without power after Tropical Storm Irene.
Our own house lost power at 1:30 am Sunday morning. This was our makeshift refrigerator today; a true old-fashioned ice box. Thankfully by this afternoon our power had been restored. The girls and I literally started cheering when it happened. I have never been more in love with electricity than I was in that moment, and I will never take a hot shower for granted again. We are luckier than many others in town who are not expected to get their power back until later in the week.
