Honestly, just when I think this kid can't get any cuter she goes and puts on this ladybug costume and I just want to take a bite right out of her! I told Matt I was seriously considering having her wear this costume every day until she grows out of it. I guess people might start to look at us funny if I did that though, so I will do my best to refrain. I do want to try to get some more pictures of Ella in it since that last picture of her running away from me is typical of most of the pictures I got last night. And I really must get a picture of her wearing the matching hat (I was right on when I said she would want nothing to do with it). So of course all of this means that she is going to have to put on that costume one more time. Oh darn. ;)
Trick-or-treating last night was fun. Exhausting, but fun. Ella decided at about the second house that she wanted absolutely nothing to do with either me or Matt and only wanted her Aunt Melissa to hold her or walk beside her while holding her hand. If Matt or I even attempted to get near her we were met with a very loud and emphatic "NO". Poor Melissa was such a good sport about the whole thing. It wasn't like she had four kids of her own to look after or anything! Ella figured out the whole trick-or-treating concept very quickly. She was not shy at all about pushing her way in front of her cousins in order to get to the candy bowl at each house. Once she picked out her piece of candy (or two or three or four pieces!) she even figured out that she needed to come over to her treat bag (which I was holding for her - this was the one exception to the "don't come close to Mommy" rule) and put the candy into it. I knew she'd be quick to figure out anything involving sugar. Too bad she won't be able to experience any of the candy she got, but Matt and I are very grateful to her for her hard work. Although now I'm feeling guilty so I might just have to throw a Kit Kat her way!
