A hankering for some really good (and fairly cheap) lobster was the main motivating factor in my decision to take the girls and my dad on a day trip to Mystic. Our first stop, of course, was Abbott's Lobster in the Rough where we dined at a picnic table overlooking the water. My dad and I dug into our lobsters, and while the girls were offered a grilled cheese sandwich and a hot dog they much preferred the potato chips. After lunch we headed over to the Mystic Seaport, where a ride on an old coal-fired steamboat was a huge hit with Ella. Finally we stopped off for some homemade ice cream before heading back home. Poor Claire was so exhausted from the day's activities (and all those potato chips) that she fell asleep as we left the Seaport, missed out on ice cream, and didn't wake up until we were almost pulling into the driveway.
