Cowgirl Ella & The Claire Bear.
I always forget how much I love Halloween until October 31st actually rolls around again each year. I love the fact that the whole neighborhood is out and about. I love that the simple act of dressing up and collecting ridiculous amounts of candy can bring so much joy to my children. I love having an excuse to visit all of our neighbors.
This year was an especially good one because Halloween fell on a Saturday and the weather was perfect. It was even warm enough for Matt to wear short sleeves when we went out trick-or-treating. It did start sprinkling towards the end of the evening but that didn't stop Ella, even when the bottom of her chaps were soaking wet, splattered with mud, and kept falling off. She was a girl on a mission. Claire was right in the mix the entire time, walking up to each door herself and holding out her treat bag. By the end of the evening she had things down to a science and would proclaim, "Tank you, welcome, bye!" as we left each house.
Sadly Ella is now too old for her parents to try to sneak any of her trick-or-treating candy. After we put the kids to bed tonight, Ella got up to use the bathroom and called down the stairs, "Dad, are you eating all my candy?" (He totally was by the way.) At least we still have one or two more years left before this happens with Claire, and then after that there's always the other baby on the way...
