Ella knows what the potty is for but she has no interest in using it herself, which is really fine with me. She's not quite 2 1/2 yet, so I don't feel the need to push potty training on her just yet. But I figured a little bit of nudging couldn't hurt, so earlier this week I got her a potty seat and this book. Well, she still has no interest in the potty but she is absolutely obsessed with the book. We've only had it for four days, but I'm pretty sure I already had it memorized on day one from reading it over and over and over again. We read it before naptime, before bedtime, and all the times in between. She has pretty much lost interest in all of her other books. Who knew a book about using the potty could be so riveting?
Her other obsessions of late are her new Duplo blocks and her Matchbox cars. Originally we went to the toy store just to buy the blocks, but Matt was distracted by the cars and since they are so cheap we left the store with several of those as well. Often the first word out of Ella's mouth when she wakes up from a nap is "cars". As soon as Matt gets home from work she orders, "Daddy, sit!" and they get right down to the business of building and racing. I play with her during the day, but apparently when it comes to blocks and cars there is no substitute for Daddy.
