Yesterday at approximately 2:30 PM, the electrician left the building after finishing up the very last little bit of work that needed to be done, and I am very excited to finally be able to present to you my new kitchen! In case you need to refresh your memory, you can find the before pictures here.
The after shots:
I was really nervous that by adding so much cabinet space to an already small area, it would make the kitchen feel really cramped, but thankfully that's not the case. I am very happy with how it all turned out! So far I am especially in love with the ice-maker, the garbage disposal, the under-mount sink, and the pull-out trash cabinet beside the sink (I had no idea that would make me so happy).
Having an oven again has inspired me to cook, although I will admit that the very first thing I baked when we were able to start using our appliances last week was a frozen pizza. But really, you have to ease back slowly from the world of fast food and constantly eating out. And since then I have managed to cook a real dinner every night (without anything from the frozen foods section of the grocery store)!
Now I get to drag all my kitchen stuff up from the basement and start organizing this place. Thankfully I actually find organizing to be enjoyable. I also plan on buying some fun new kitchen items. I foresee many trips to The Container Store, Williams-Sonoma, and Crate & Barrel in my very near future. If you have any must have kitchen tools, let me know about them!
Now that this project is done, I am already thinking about the next one. I think I need to talk to my contractor about getting started on re-doing the basement...
